National recognition for a local entrepreneur

Local Social Entrepreneur, Alex Finnegan, has made it though to the finals of a national competition organised by the Social Enterprise Coalition. The competition is called "New Idea, New Business" and is an opportunity for four lucky Social Entrepreneurs to sell their Ideas to 800 of the top Social business leaders from around the UK and beyond .

Alex, a founding Director of Ouseburn based, PuppetShip CIC along with his Puppeteer wife, Alison Mc Gowan have created PuppetShip CIC to purchase and convert a 120ft ship into a 100 seat Puppet Theatre, flexible workshop space and Cafe, these spaces will then be hired to creative businesses, generating a sustainable income stream in order to finance a Community Outreach Programme, delivering puppetry shows and workshops into the region's most deprived communities.

Breaking News! 11-01-07

PuppetShip CIC has been shortlisted for a competition organised by the Social Enterprise Coalition National Conference. The Competition New Idea New Business selects four Social Entrepreneurs, giving each 5 minutes to verbally present their Idea to the conference, with those in attendence voting on who wins. No real money attached, but great publicity.
